The Curious Forgetting of Siberius Flint by Brittany Meyer

Prompt: The List | Word Count: 1500 | Genre: Abstract
Siberius Flint was forgettable. So forgettable, in fact, that his parents left him at the hospital the day after he was born, and the nurse had to call them on their home phone to remind them about little Siberius. They came back, of course, completely confused as to why they had forgotten him, and took him home. They forgot him again and again, and he soon learned that noise was the only way to bring them to him, so he cried constantly, which did nothing to endear him to their hearts.
Being extremely young- 19 and 20- they soon realized they couldn’t care for him and put him up for adoption.
And so little Siberius, at the tender age of two weeks, was deposited into the national foster care system.
His first foster family loved him dearly, when they remembered him. When they didn’t, Siberius had to resort to his old habit of shrieking at the top of his tiny little lungs. Babies, for their lung size, can make a sizable noise that is very hard to forget, even if the baby making the noise is.
