Blood-crusted hands unfolded the yellowing piece of paper. A trembling finger crossed out another name. Four names had crimson smears through it. Four lives snuffed out for their blood. Weary grey eyes looked over the list. Unconsciously his right hand moved to massage the bridge of his nose. It left rouge smudges on his face. Two names remained. The old man carefully refolded the paper and tucked it into his inner jacket pocket. He sighed heavily as he looked at his hands, slowly flexing them as he watched the tiny blood-flakes scale off. “I need to wash,” he thought drily.
