Coming Undone by Delrae Goodburn Lurie

Prompt: Coming Undone | Word count: 1185 | Genre:

The doorbell wails.

A final anxious look in the mirror reveals that I look as intended: acceptable. No tell tale streaks to hint at my valiant attempt to appear as if I’ve flitted back into town from St. Tropez, instead of the unmentionable place.

Before the unforgiving sunlight can annihilate my eyeballs I put on my double-glazed Tom Fords Sunglasses. They hide a multitude of lapses in judgment. They also provide a soft filter through which the world is best viewed anytime before the butlers up in Malibu can respectably start rustling up Margaritas.

I grab a blonde lambskin Louis Vuitton from the top of my cupboard.

It is large enough to fit my desk top printer. Too big. Too flashy. Like everything in this town, which I guess makes it perfect.
