A one-time thing is a passing incident. You don’t go about telling stories to yourself about a meaningless fluke. You wouldn’t repeat a silly tale ad infinitum to your coworkers and neighbours. What’s so sensational about a single dog taking a nap on the hood of a car?
But the next day, I definitely had a story to tell.
