Unravelling by Sue MacDonald

Prompt: Coming Undone | Word Count: 730 | Genre: Warped humour
The cast shouldn’t have laughed after the performance but they did.  The person who laughed the loudest and the longest was the contralto Jess, whose squeaky giggle belied her on-stage stentorian tones and volume as she bullied her co-singer Mike, extolled the virtues of her character, and boomed in the ear of the Mikado.
‘What are you going to tell your kids about tonight?’ asked the conductor Pat.
‘Oh,’ said Jess, ‘that everyone laughed and laughed when I pushed Mike over.’
‘And…?’
‘That I was an especially bitchy Katisha?’
