Arianna twirled the wrapper. Her heart skipped. Her fingers snapped at the crisp fortune cookie to reveal the tail of the white paper inside. Hurriedly, she took it out. Every flower blooms in its own sweet time. Munching on the cookie, she tried to fathom the words.
“Thank you, ma’am. Here’s your check,” the waiter set in on the table. Caroline signed it briskly and readied to leave the restaurant.
“Come on, Arianna. It’s time to go home,” Caroline’s voice was impatient. Arianna was still lost in her own world. The girl is always daydreaming, even her teachers at school has complained about it.
