My refrigerator was packed with Al’s favorite foods – lasagne, hopefully even better than his mother’s, kale salad, something we both pretended to enjoy for its health benefits, Brussel sprouts, disgusting, but it made Al laugh every time I took a polite bite, and a huge chocolate mousse for four, a dessert that we would probably finish completely. It would take superhuman resolve to save some for after the meal.
