Long green stems lay on the otherwise pristine, white tiles of the floor, next to red, yellow, white, and orange petals.  Withered and dried.  Almost-fresh Baby’s breaths lay scattered stubbornly among the decay.  I stepped over them and walked towards the kitchen for a broom and dustpan.  It was time to clean up the mess...
