With the sun dropping into the cradle of the lake behind her, Grace trudged up the hill towards town, her rucksack on her back and her satchel sliding over and back on her hip. She concentrated on her breathing as she walked, but the cold air stung and her legs wobbled with each new born step. She felt as though her skin had been temporarily removed and she was left with a body that felt every wisp of air pierce it. This state of being was alien to her and she tried to walk harder to brush it off. Once she was sitting on the bus and Cavan became a memory, she would be able to feel herself again. Or could she?
